Kenya's preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations have entered a decisive phase with the National Steering committee appearing before parliament, to outline progress on the country's readiness to co-host the continental showpiece.
The Local Organising Committee [LOC] chaired by veteran football administarator Nicholas Musonye, appeared before the departmental sports committee led by Daniel Wanyama, to provide an update on key milestones and ongoing preparations.
Members of the Parliament questioned the pace of implementation, noting that although the National streering committee was gazetted in June, little progress has been made.
Legislators sought an explanation for the delay, asking why the committee had yet to fully commence its work despite the tight timeliness ahead of the 2027 AFCON.

The discussions further highlighted emerging risks associated with hosting the tournament, particularly after Kenya committed approximately 3.8 Billion in hosting rights fee.
Amid the recent rise in Ebola cases across parts of the country, members of parliament urged the LOC to develop comprehensive health and emergency response strategies to mitigate disease outbreaks and safeguard both visitors and residents throughout the tournament
