A video circulating widely on social media has sparked public outrage after an unidentified young man claimed to have been part of an alleged criminal network involved in illegal organ harvesting, forcing authorities to face mounting calls for a thorough investigation into the sensational allegations.
The man made the claims while giving what appeared to be a public confession at the New Life Prayer Centre and Church, Kisii Branch. In the video, he alleged that he belonged to a syndicate involved in harvesting kidneys from unsuspecting victims before disposing of their bodies at various locations across the country.
During the confession, the man accused popular musician Kelvin Bahati of being the alleged leader of the operation, claiming the artist resides in Kamakis, Ruiru, and coordinated the group's activities in Nairobi, Machakos, Eldoret and Nakuru counties. He further alleged that the syndicate collaborated with individuals he identified only as Santos and a doctor he referred to as "Dr. Abdi" from a hospital in Eldoret.
According to the unidentified man, the group allegedly targeted hospital patients and young women aged between 20 and 25 by luring them with promises of lucrative jobs abroad. He claimed the victims were taken for what they believed were routine medical examinations before being killed and their kidneys forcibly removed. He further alleged that the bodies were wrapped in sacks and dumped at locations including River Yala and PCEA Mwiki in Kasarani, Nairobi.
The allegations, however, remain unverified, and no evidence has been presented to support the claims made in the confession.
In response, musician Kelvin Bahati strongly denied every allegation, describing the accusations as fabricated, false and defamatory. He challenged those behind the viral videos to provide credible evidence, arguing that the accuser's account contained numerous contradictions across different clips circulating online.
Bahati also demanded an immediate retraction of the allegations and warned that he would pursue legal action against individuals spreading what he termed as malicious misinformation. He urged both the public and media outlets to exercise restraint and avoid sharing unverified claims capable of damaging reputations.
Despite Bahati's denial, the video has continued to generate intense public debate, with many Kenyans calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch an independent investigation to establish the truth behind the disturbing allegations.
The incident comes amid growing public concern over cases of abductions and enforced disappearances reported in different parts of the country. While some citizens have linked the broader security concerns to alleged state involvement, both the Government and the Ministry of Interior have consistently denied any connection to such claims.
As investigations are demanded, authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the viral confession. Until any inquiry is concluded, the allegations remain unproven, and no individual mentioned in the confession has been charged with any offence.
